释义	欠条约定的还款期限已经过了八年，债权人仍然可以起诉，要求债务人偿还欠款。但是因为欠条而产生的债权债务纠纷的诉讼时效为三年。如果债务人以该欠条超过了诉讼时效为由，进行抗辩的，则债权人会丧失对该事项的胜诉权，法院不会对债权人要求债务人还债的诉讼请求予以支持。法律依据：《民法典》第一百八十八条向人民法院请求保护民事权利的诉讼时效期间为三年。法律另有规定的，依照其规定。
