保外就医有严格的法律审查批准程序，并且需要对申请保外就医的人员进行疾病伤残鉴定或者由指定的医疗机构出具诊断报告，符合条件的才允许保外就医。抑郁症能否保外就医关键要根据医院的诊断及是否符合保外就医的相关条件才能确定。
保外就医的条件是什么
《刑事诉讼法》
第二百六十五条对被判处有期徒刑或者拘役的罪犯，有下列情形之一的，可以暂予监外执行：
(一)有严重疾病需要保外就医的；
(二)怀孕或者正在哺乳自己婴儿的妇女；
(三)生活不能自理，适用暂予监外执行不致危害社会的。
对被判处无期徒刑的罪犯，有前款第二项规定情形的，可以暂予监外执行。
对适用保外就医可能有社会危险性的罪犯，或者自伤自残的罪犯，不得保外就医。
对罪犯确有严重疾病，必须保外就医的，由省级人民政府指定的医院诊断并开具证明文件。
在交付执行前，暂予监外执行由交付执行的人民法院决定；在交付执行后，暂予监外执行由监狱或者看守所提出书面意见，报省级以上监狱管理机关或者设区的市一级以上公安机关批准。
