购买商品房后，还可以继承农村老家的宅基地。城市是否购房与能否继承宅基地无关。农村宅基地实际上属于农民集体的所有财产，在集体经济组织内按户分配使用，农村宅基地本身不是个人财产，村民个人只有使用权，农村宅基地不属于法定遗产范围，农村宅基地不是遗产，也不能继承。但需要注意的是，在农村宅基地上建造的房屋，属于法律规定的遗产范围，因此，该房屋可以继承。
一、女儿可以继承农村宅基地吗
农村宅基地女儿没有继承权，因为宅基地不能继承，但宅基地上房屋可以继承。由于宅基地属于农村集体所有，不是该集体成员不得享有，所以非本集体成员对于宅基地是没有继承权的；而房屋属于父母的财产，子女可以继承。
宅基地的所有权和使用权是分离的，所有权属于集体，农村居民只有使用权，不能随意对宅基地进行处置。所以，宅基地不能单独作为遗产进行继承。操作方式就是变卖房屋为现金进行财产继承，宅基地归还原农民集体。
二、父母名下的宅基地,城市户口的子女可以继承吗
父母名下的宅基地，城市户口的子女不可以继承。农村宅基地不可以被继承。法律规定，遗产是自然人死亡时遗留的个人合法财产。依照法律规定或者根据其性质不得继承的遗产，不得继承。而农村宅基地的所有权属于集体，父母只有使用权，所以宅基地不是父母的遗产，自然不可以作为其遗产由子女继承。
