一、办失业证需要单位开什么证明
办失业证需要单位单位开具终止或者解除劳动关系的证明，告知其按照规定享受失业保险待遇的权利，并将失业人员的名单自终止或者解除劳动关系之日起7日内报社会保险经办机构备案。
二、办理失业证有什么用
办理失业证有以下用处：
1.失业证是失业人员享受就业服务、办理录用登记的资格凭证。
2.符合失业救济条件的，凭失业证和劳动手册在有效期内按月到户口所在街道或人事关系所在地办理失业救济金领取。
3.凭失业证可享受免费职业介绍、减免费转业训练等促进就业的优惠政策。国家规定最多可以领取24个月，在24个月之内，重新就业的，办理就业登记，不再领取失业保险金。
三、失业证有效期限是多久
失业证有效期限是一年，持失业证的失业人员应于到期前15日内到原发证机构进行延期审验，未经审验的失业证视为无效证件。就业后，失业证自动失效，自创业者可享受三年优惠政策。
《失业保险条例》第十六条
城镇企业事业单位应当及时为失业人员出具终止或者解除劳动关系的证明，告知其按照规定享受失业保险待遇的权利，并将失业人员的名单自终止或者解除劳动关系之日起7日内报社会保险经办机构备案。
城镇企业事业单位职工失业后，应当持本单位为其出具的终止或者解除劳动关系的证明，及时到指定的社会保险经办机构办理失业登记。失业保险金自办理失业登记之日起计算。
