释义	法律分析：欠条约定的还款期限已经过了八年，债权人仍然可以起诉，要求债务人偿还欠款。但是因为欠条而产生的债权债务纠纷的诉讼时效为三年。如果债务人以该欠条超过了诉讼时效为由，进行抗辩的，则债权人会丧失对该事项的胜诉权，法院不会对债权人要求债务人还债的诉讼请求予以支持。法律依据：《民法典》第一百八十八条　向人民法院请求保护民事权利的诉讼时效期间为三年。法律另有规定的，依照其规定。
