释义	法律分析：合同兵指公民与部队签订劳动合同，参加部队工作。合同兵不同于义务兵，他们是以当兵作为职业，可以领取工资（义务兵只有津贴可领），是职业化的，且服役时间可以比较长，又称士官，类似于国外的雇佣兵。合同兵不是直接升士官，士官是从服现役期满的士兵中选拔，也有从军外直接招募具有专业技能的公民成为士官。法律依据：《中华人民共和国宪法》第五十五条保卫祖国、抵抗侵略是中华人民共和国每一个公民的神圣职责。依照法律服兵役和参加民兵组织是中华人民共和国公民的光荣义务。
