开发商在前期物业管理期间需要交物业费，因为此时是作为建设单位的开发商作为业主与物业公司签订的合同，其应当承担缴纳物业费的义务；如果房子已卖出交付给购房者了，则开发商不需要在缴纳物业费。

《物业管理条例》第二十一条 在业主、业主大会选聘物业服务企业之前，建设单位选聘物业服务企业的，应当签订书面的前期物业服务合同。
