法律分析：
过于自信的过失，是指行为人已经预见到自己的行为可能发生危害社会的结果，但轻信能够避免，以致发生这种结果的心理态度。比如，行为人驾车，虽明知强行超车会肇事，但认为路面较宽，而且自己驾驶技术高超，于是强行超车，导致车祸，造成人员伤亡。
法律依据：
《中华人民共和国刑法》 第十五条 应当预见自己的行为可能发生危害社会的结果，因为疏忽大意而没有预见，或者已经预见而轻信能够避免，以致发生这种结果的，是过失犯罪。
