如果一个本国公民有双重国籍，也就是说获得了其他国家的国籍，从原则上被视为自动放弃本国国籍。但是对于国籍的选择，是尊重公民本人的意愿的，虽说不是强制申报，但是也说明了对于这件事的态度。所以一般如果发现了双重国籍，你的本国国籍就自动撤销。
强制取消中国国籍。国籍是指一个人属于某一个国家的国民或公民的法律资格，表明一个人同一个特定国家间的固定的法律联系，是国家行使属人管辖权和外交保护权的法律依据。国籍丧失分为自愿和非自愿，自愿退出国籍是指退出本国国籍或成为无国籍人，或选择它国国籍。因为某些国家不承认双重国籍，要求申请它国国籍者，必须放弃本国国籍。非自愿，是指因为政治原因或其它原因，而被剥夺国籍。国籍的取得、丧失和变更由国籍法规定。取得国籍主要有出生和入籍两种方式。因出生而取得国籍，国际上有血统制和出生地制两种原则。
双重国籍是指一个自然人同时具有两个国家的国籍。双重国籍主要是由于各国法律存在的差异以及因种种情况产生的国籍变化而形成的。其最基本的差异一些国家在自然国籍确定上采用血统主义，而另一些国家则采用出生地主义。例如，美国采用出生地主义，即出生于美国的自然人，均取得美国国籍，而不问其父母的所属国籍。
法律依据：《中华人民共和国国籍法》第三条中华人民共和国不承认中国公民具有双重国籍。第五条父母双方或一方为中国公民，本人出生在外国，具有中国国籍；但父母双方或一方为中国公民并定居在外国，本人出生时即具有外国国籍的，不具有中国国籍。
