释义	卖淫，是指以营利为目的，自愿和他人发生性关系的行为。所谓“以营利为目的”，指卖淫者在与对方发生性关系时的主观目的是营利，而不是以感情、激情或者生理需求为目的。法律依据：《中华人民共和国治安管理处罚法》第六十六条卖淫、嫖娼的，处十日以上十五日以下拘留，可以并处五千元以下罚款；情节较轻的，处五日以下拘留或者五百元以下罚款。在公共场所拉客招嫖的，处五日以下拘留或者五百元以下罚款。
