私事闹到单位损害名誉是违法的。
名誉权，是指自然人和法人、非法人组织就其自身属性和价值所获得的社会评价，享有的保有和维护的具体人格权。
对方的行为构成侵犯名誉权的民事侵权行为，若造成严重后果，则该行为构成犯罪。
行为人为公共利益实施新闻报道、舆论监督等行为，影响他人名誉的，不承担民事责任。

《中华人民共和国民法典》
第一千零二十四条，民事主体享有名誉权。任何组织或者个人不得以侮辱、诽谤等方式侵害他人的名誉权。
名誉是对民事主体的品德、声望、才能、信用等的社会评价。
