社保卡年限到期可以进行更换，更换方式如下：
1、社保卡过期只需持卡人在市社保经办机构申请换卡即可。社保卡过期、丢失、损坏，都可以到原办理与颁发机关申请更换或补办，办理机关可能需要你提供相应的证明，也会收取适当的手续费；
2、社会保障卡如丢失、被盗或损坏，应凭本人身份证到就近各社保经办机构办理挂失、更换。原医保IC卡换制社会保障卡，还需提供一寸彩照一张。如委托他人办理，应携带委托人及代理人的身份证。因社会保障卡丢失或损坏期间发生的费用，经审核，予以报销一次且为挂失更换前最近一次发生的医疗费用。
法律依据：《中华人民共和国社会保险法》 第四条
中华人民共和国境内的用人单位和个人依法缴纳社会保险费，有权查询缴费记录、个人权益记录，要求社会保险经办机构提供社会保险咨询等相关服务。
个人依法享受社会保险待遇，有权监督本单位为其缴费情况。
第十条
职工应当参加基本养老保险，由用人单位和职工共同缴纳基本养老保险费。
无雇工的个体工商户、未在用人单位参加基本养老保险的非全日制从业人员以及其他灵活就业人员可以参加基本养老保险，由个人缴纳基本养老保险费。
公务员和参照公务员法管理的工作人员养老保险的办法由国务院规定。
