租房子口头定金交了可以退吗？

法律分析：
房东在约定期间内不能拒绝将房子租给交了定金的人，或是将房子另外租给他人，这都属于违约行为，租房者在交了定金之后，无法继续租房的情况下，可以主张退还定金，并且可以要求收取定金的一方双倍返还定金。
法律依据：
《中华人民共和国民法典》 第一百八十九条 当事人可以约定一方向对方给付定金作为债权的担保。债务人履行债务后，定金应当抵作价款或者收回。给付定金的一方不履行约定的债务的，无权要求返还定金受定金的一方不履行约定的债务的，应当双倍返还定金。
