给小孩改名字符合条件的话是可以的。公民符合下列条件之一，可申请办理名字变更登记：1、在同一单位或者近亲属中名字相同的；2、未成年人因父母离异、再婚或收养关系要求变更姓名的；3、名字中含有不易识别的冷僻字、异体字、繁体字的；4、名字的谐音或含义容易引人误解、歧视或伤及本人感情的；5、公民出家或僧尼还俗的；6、姓名粗俗不雅的。根据我国法律的规定，公民变更姓名，依照下列规定办理：1．未满十八周岁的人需要变更姓名的时候，由本人或者父母、收养人向户口登记机关申请变更登记2．十八周岁以上的人需要变更姓名的时候，由本人向户口登记机关申请变更登记。
为孩子改名需要如下证明材料：
1、证明父母、子女身份的证明材料。例如，家庭户口本、父母身份证、父母结婚证等；
2、证明子女姓名变更的事实、依据以及理由的相关材料；
3、为孩子改名需要的其他证明材料。
给孩子改名字需要这些手续：
1、与另一方协商孩子改姓的事项，询问对方的意见；
2、对方同意改姓的，向户口登记机关申请变更登记；
3、户口登记机关在户口本上对孩子的姓名进行变更。
